When something good goes around – The Biobank Study of the Year 2023

Building the world’s best biobank network

The mission of Finnish Biobank Cooperative – FINBB is to enhance the competitiveness of Finnish health and biomedical research by providing researchers centralized access to collections and services of the Finnish biobanks and their background organizations. FINBB’s activities create value for its members and owners by providing services at the national level.

FINBB opens a call to select the year’s biobank research project.

Research projects that meet the following criteria can apply for recognition:

  • The research has been ongoing during the years 2022–2023

  • The research project utilizes the materials of a Finnish biobank/biobanks

  • The research project has produced new research information

  • The results of the research project have been published in international peer-reviewed publications or industry conferences, or the publication process is underway

  • The data produced in the research project is returned to the biobank or biobanks

  • The results of the research project have potential health and well-being benefits for citizens,
    biobank sample donors and/or patients in Finland and the world.

The winner will be awarded a research grant of 5,000 euros. The selection of the winner
is carried out by a jury consisting of experts from different disciplines.
