Why Fingenious^®?

Fingenious^® Service helps academic and industry researchers all over the world in their biomedical research efforts, offering a single and easy point of access to Finnish public biobanks and the unique genetic heritage of Finns.

Finnish Biobank Cooperative – FINBB and its Fingenious^® Service were established as part of the implementation of Finnish National Health Sector Growth Strategy, a joint program by three ministries.

Fingenious^® Service allows researchers to perform quick biospecimen and data queries, and reach all the public biobanks in Finland with a centralized feasibility and access request, and one contract.

Finnish Biobanks – FINBB and Phenome Health, a US non-profit organization, have signed a strategic collaboration agreement and jointly agreed to collaborate to advance medical research in Finland.

Recontacting biobank sample donors based on distinct genetic parameters for further research studies – building a genetic operating model and procedures for brain diseases

At the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), as part of an ongoing UEF Brain Research Unit 2.0 ERDF project (UEF BRU 2.0) an operating model is created and tested to identify people with underlying functional genetic variant associated with brain diseases, including frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The operating model is built in cooperation with the Biobank of Eastern Finland, UEF Genome Center, UEF Brain Research Unit, and the research groups of UEF.
